From AI-powered diagnostics to next-gen insulation materials, our sector is evolving fast. In his latest contribution, Frederic Beghain outlines how smart tech, data science and small process changes can deliver major performance gains.

Opportunities are all around, grab many of them!

Artificial intelligence is all around us and already popular. It offers endless possibilities to optimize our processes. So, if you ask me, we shouldn’t fear AI, we should embrace its qualities and use it for what it is meant to be: a support for humans. We could for example apply AI for comprehensive diagnostics that would initiate some good directions and support experts to then develop some more advanced diagnostics. Keep in mind that I’m rooting for people’s jobs wholeheartedly and I am not going to change, I’m just convinced that some tasks are better done by AI and robots, so that we can cherish our people for all the jobs technology cannot fill.

Data science provides access to better products. The better we understand our machines, the better we can improve them for the specific processes we execute every day. New technologies that are developed today are by far the biggest opportunity we have right now!

Let’s zoom in on the development of new materials for example. The latest insulation materials are considerably thinner than before, which improves the circulation between coils and impacts the temperature. The result? By changing small things in our processes, such as choosing new insulation material, we can deliver up to 30% more power than before!

Can you see how impactful easy adjustments to existing machines are? So, stay alert and grab every opportunity you have to discover the new ones!
